Connect Orvo to the Gemini app

The Gemini app can connect to remote MCP servers as “custom apps”. Add Orvo on the web, then mention it with @ in Gemini on the web or on your phone.

US personal accounts only Last verified 10 October 2026
Limited availability. Google currently offers custom apps only to people aged 18 or over in the United States, using a personal Google account, in English, with Keep Activity turned on. Work and school accounts can’t use it. If you don’t see Custom apps in Connected Apps, your account isn’t eligible yet.

Who this is for

Gemini users in the US with a personal Google account who want to ask Gemini about their Orvo network.

Before you start

  • A personal Google account in the US (18+), Gemini set to English, and Keep Activity on.
  • A computer for the setup: custom apps are added on gemini.google.com and then work in the Gemini mobile app too.
  • An Orvo account with web access (the free trial works).
https://www.getorvo.com/api/mcp

Your Orvo MCP server URL.

Add Orvo as a custom app

  1. On gemini.google.com, click Settings and open Connected Apps.
  2. Under Custom apps, choose to add a custom app and enter https://www.getorvo.com/api/mcp as the link.
  3. Click Next. You don’t need the Advanced features fields: Orvo registers Gemini automatically.
  4. Follow the prompts to Orvo. Sign in if asked, choose Read only (recommended) or Read and make changes, and click Authorise & Connect.
  5. In a chat, type @, pick Orvo and ask your question.

Read only, or read and make changes

Gemini signs in through Orvo’s page, where you choose Read only (recommended) or Read and make changes. To switch, open Orvo under Custom apps, choose More details → Disconnect, and connect again.

Google says Gemini asks you to confirm any write action before it runs.

Either way, deleting never erases anything: People and notes go to Recently deleted for 30 days, daily limits cap how much an assistant can change, and changes to a person (their profile, tags, notes and linked actions) show in their activity as made via AI assistant. How Orvo keeps you in control.

Things to ask Gemini

@Orvo who should I catch up with this week? Works read-only
@Orvo what do I know about the people at Northbridge Group? Works read-only
@Orvo whose birthday is coming up this month? Works read-only
@Orvo add a note to Emily: loved the Lisbon recommendations. Needs read and make changes

Troubleshooting

There’s no Custom apps section
Custom apps are limited to personal Google accounts in the US, 18+, in English, with Keep Activity on. Work and school accounts don’t have it.
I can’t add it on my phone
Google documents adding custom apps on the web only. Add Orvo on a computer; it then works in the Gemini mobile app.
The sign-in page asks me to log in to Orvo first
That’s expected. Sign in with your Orvo account in that browser window and you’ll land on the Connect … to Orvo page. Pick an access level and click Authorise & Connect.
I chose the wrong access level
Disconnect Orvo in your assistant (or sign out of the connector) and connect again. The Orvo sign-in page appears again and you can pick the other option.
Orvo refuses every request although I signed in
Check that your Orvo account is active (trial not expired, subscription current) and that it has web access. The mobile-only plan doesn’t include MCP connections.
“Too many requests” or a daily limit message
Orvo allows about 60 MCP requests a minute per account, so wait a minute and try again. Daily limits on changes reset at midnight UTC.

Official documentation

Menus and plans change. If a step above doesn't match what you see, Google's own documentation is the source of truth:

Steps last checked against these pages on 10 October 2026. Gemini app is a product of Google; Orvo is not affiliated with Google.

Gemini app and Orvo: FAQ

Can I use Orvo with Gemini in Google Workspace?

Not through the Gemini app: custom apps aren’t available for work or school accounts. Google’s separate Gemini Enterprise product has its own MCP set-up for admins, which Orvo doesn’t cover in this guide.

Is this the same as Gemini CLI?

No. Gemini CLI is Google’s terminal tool and has its own setup, which works on any Google account.

Can the assistant read my emails or calendar through Orvo?

No. The Orvo MCP server works with your People, notes, actions, opportunities, tags, groups and relationship insights. Synced emails and calendar events are not exposed, and it can’t send messages.

What happens to things the assistant deletes?

They go to Recently deleted in Orvo, with their notes and actions, and can be restored for 30 days. Deleting is only possible on a connection you set to “Read and make changes”.
